By early 2020, the sudden outbreak of new coronavirus pneumonia disrupted our preparation plan for CURC Robocon 2020 "Robo Rugby 7". The domestic contest originally scheduled for June was cancelled helplessly. However, Robocon teams with a 20-year history of struggle never give up easily. Even if the team members are isolated at home, they still use a variety of ways and insist on design, research, simulation and production, waiting for that day showing on the game field.
In August 2020, the ABU Robocon Tokyo Secretariat decided to cancel the competition in Fiji and instead to hold a showcase ABU Robocon Festival and Robocon Fest 2020 in November.
The CURC Organizing Committee then decided to change this year's domestic Robocon to a online contest with only a limited people gather. The problems to be solved first in organizing online contest are the two closely related issues that is, the game field and the game content. Considering that many schools do not have the conditions to build a complete game field, or its half, the game field must be simplified first, so that most schools have the possibility of building such a game field that is necessary for online contest. Then, on the basis of the original "Robo Rugby 7" rules, the key robot movements and tasks, that is, passing the rugby and kicking the rugby, are condensed, and the online game rules with the competition taste are formulated, so that most teams can participate in online contest. Before 30 October, to determine the two teams to participate in the ABU Robocon Festival, the domestic  Robocon 2020 online contest is scheduled for October 24 and 25.
Earlier, at the end of August, 36 teams, 59.7% of original registration teams, completed the "Robotic Equestrian" simulation contest. As of Sep. 1, 75 teams, 64.7% of the original registration teams, signed up again for the "Robo Rugby 7" online contest.
The Organizing Committee decided to use Tencent Meeting software for online contest and live broadcast for interested audiences. Because the online contest is held first time, so the contest process and online game schedule are designed, as shown in the table below.

At the team leader meeting on Oct. 18, we will explain the matters needing attention, rules and so on, and draw lots to determine the time period for each team. On Oct. 21, the teams will be scheduled to test run. The official contest will take place on Oct. 24 and 25.
In this online contest, the game time of each team is only 15 minutes. The time limit is 3 minutes for passing ball game, and 4 minutes for kicking bell game. Teams can retry within the game time. There are two chances for each kind of games.
Before the online contest, teams should prepare the contest environment, select the video devices properly and arrange the shooting positions as required to ensure that the referee can see the clearest video image.
Before Oct., interested teachers and students can send your contact information (country, university, full name, email address) to email box chinarobocon@163.com to apply for permission to watch the live broadcast of the online contest. The Organizing Committee will reply the live link to you by email.
We hope to perfectly complete the domestic Robocon 2020 through this online contest and accumulate experience in organizing, ruling and live broadcast of online games, so that we can make full preparation for ABU Robocon 2021 hosted in China.
